01 Overview

Loading and Unloading Labor on the Eastside

Sometimes you’ve already got the truck. Maybe you rented a moving truck, ordered a pod, or you’re driving a trailer yourself and you just need strong, experienced hands to load it right. Redmond Movers does labor-only loading and unloading with our own trained crew — the same movers who run full jobs, just billed for the muscle instead of the truck.

From Bellevue to Sammamish, Redmond Movers writes the entire move as one fixed number — the same figure on move day as on the estimate.

Loading is a skill, not just lifting

A rental truck loaded loose is a truck full of damage by the time it reaches Spokane over the pass or the Bay Area down I-5. Our crew loads tight and weight-balanced — heavy low, fragile braced, everything strapped so it can’t shift on a freeway or a steep grade. We pad and dolly your furniture and appliances rather than dragging them, and the same care applies whether we’re filling your container in Redmond or emptying it at the destination.

Stairs, basements, and elevators included

Labor-only doesn’t mean we stop at the curb. Our crew runs the daylight-basement stairs, the split-level landings, and the high-rise freight elevator exactly the way we would on a full move. We bring the dollies, straps, and pads, and we protect the path on both ends.

Rain doesn’t get a pass

Even on a labor job we lay floor runners and pad the doorways, because it’s the Eastside and it’s probably wet. Keeping your floors clean and your furniture dry is part of how we work, not an upsell.

What it costs

Loading and unloading labor runs on our straight hourly rate — $169 an hour for a two-mover crew or $229 an hour for three, with no one-hour minimum to inflate a short job. For a small load two movers is usually enough; for a packed house or a lot of stairs, three movers simply finish faster. Tell us the size of the load and the access, and we’ll tell you which crew is the better value.

Booking it

Booking takes a $135 deposit, which we then apply against the final bill. Work our crew performs is covered, and we’ll talk through how coverage applies on a load-only job — since you own the truck, it’s worth a quick conversation up front. Get my free moving quote.

What’s included

  • You supply the rental truck, pod, or trailer — we send an experienced Redmond Movers crew to load or unload it by the hour, with no minimum on the equipment you bring
  • Tight, weight-balanced loading so your gear survives the I-90 pass or the I-5 run
  • Furniture and appliances padded and dollied — no bare drag across your floors
  • Floor runners and door protection laid for the Eastside wet, even on labor-only jobs
  • Two movers at $169/hr or three at $229/hr, the one-hour minimum waived
  • Stair-carries, basement runs, and high-rise elevator loads handled by the same trained crew

How the price gets set

It begins with a short walkthrough or video estimate, and from your actual inventory we write one flat Eastside rate — no hourly clock buried anywhere in it. What that sheet reads is the whole price, with nothing tacked on once the truck is loaded.

02 How we protect your move

We treat your things like they are ours

Pads, shrink film, and floor runners ride on every truck — ready to wrap furniture, guard hardwood and laminate against Pacific-Northwest rain, and cushion the fragile pieces whether the job is a Sammamish plateau new-build, a split-level with a daylight basement, or a downtown Bellevue high-rise condo.

Quilted pads

Dressers, tables, and headboards each get padded in place — that wrapping happens long before any of it starts moving toward the door.

Stretch film

Drawers stay shut and upholstery stays clean — wrapped tight against the rain and the damp on the ramp from your door to the truck and back.

Floor & doorway guards

Before the first box ever leaves the floor, we lay the runners, wrap the rails, and pad the jambs — that way your tile, railings, and trim look the same at quitting time as they did at sunrise.

Built-to-fit crating

For mirrors, glass tabletops, framed art, and flat screens, a crate gets built around each piece on the spot, measured corner to corner so the fit is exact.

Break-down & rebuild

The bulky stuff — bed frames, dining tables, sectionals — gets broken down for the ride, then we put it back together after it crosses the threshold of your new place.

Straps, dollies & gear

Whether it is a freight-elevator tower, a pinched condo hallway, or the single heaviest piece in the house, the right tie-downs and rigging come out — nothing about our truck gets shortchanged.

03 Why us

The name on the truck is the name on your contract

Hire Redmond Movers and the truck at your curb is ours, the paperwork is ours, and the people carrying your sofa up the daylight-basement stairs draw an Eastside paycheck from us — your move is never sold off. A broker works the other direction: they hand your job to whoever underbids that week, then drop out of the picture.

Redmond Movers
  • Our own trucks and our own full-time, background-checked movers — never day labor pulled off a job board
  • The number we write down is the number you pay — signed, held, to the dollar
  • The same crew from the first box loaded to the last box carried in
  • Household-goods authority from Washington (WUTC), USDOT/MC on the books for interstate runs, and every single job backed by full insurance
  • One Redmond office and one point of contact, from your first call to the last box down
What a broker does
  • Farms your move out to whichever outfit underbids that week
  • Lets the quote swell on move day with add-ons nobody mentioned up front
  • Puts everything you own in the hands of a crew you have never once talked to, then points them up your stairs
  • Stays fuzzy about whose policy actually pays for a dropped TV
  • Drops a call center between you and whoever finally shows up to load

Questions we hear about this service

I rented a truck or a pod — can you just load it for me?
That's exactly this service. You handle the truck, pod, or trailer rental; we bring the muscle and the technique. Our crew loads it tight and balanced so nothing shifts on the freeway or over the pass, and we pad and dolly your furniture instead of dragging it. Same deal in reverse if you need us to unload at the other end.
What does loading or unloading labor cost?
It's our hourly labor rate: $169 an hour for two movers or $229 an hour for three, and we've waived the old one-hour minimum so a quick load isn't padded. For a studio or one-bed pod, two movers is usually plenty; for a full house or a lot of stairs, three moves faster and often costs about the same once the clock's done.
Will you carry stuff up the basement stairs or into a high-rise unit?
Yes. Labor-only doesn't mean curbside-only — our crew runs the basement stairs, the split-level landings, and the high-rise elevator just like on a full move. We bring dollies and straps and protect the path. The only thing you're providing is the truck or container; the carrying is all ours.
